World Premier of Student Composition and Retired Navy Band Commander Highlight the 2010 Atlantic Pops Community Band HERO and Scholarship Concert
Under the baton of Music Director Mark Kadetsky, the Atlantic Pops Community Band will premier Heroic Fanfare, the second publicly performed piece for Symphonic Band by EHTHS junior Daniel Sullivan.
As a tribute to the HERO campaign and the memory of Ensign John Elliot, the Pops will also perform Songs of Sailor and Sea, under the direction of Special Guest Conductor Lt Commander John Pastin, director of bands at Rowan University and retired Commander of the United States Navy Band. The 50 piece band will once again be joined by vocalist/emcee Toni Ann Gisondi Pugiliese and area middle and high school students for the Atlantic Pops Community Band’s annual Side-by-Side concert.
Music Director Kadetsky will share the podium with student conductor James Tucker and area Band Directors, Ben Fong, Michele Marano and Dom Scalfaro.
Proceeds support the HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers http://www.herocampaign.org/index.html and provide music scholarships for area students.
